Professional Shift

After returning back to work after my maternity leave, i suddenly wanted a professional shift to where my career is leading me. It was so suddenly that even I was so shocked about it. Shocked but wholehearted that this decision will give me and my family a better future but the risk was so big that I have to pray time and time again for guidance.

Talking about risks, there will be a big chance that I cannot go back to where I started my career but there’s also the excitement that this new road I am leading will finally bring me to what I have been dreaming for. This is one of the biggest decisions I have made in my life aside from wearing skirts since Monday and wearing this high heels shoes that’s giving me blisters!

Professional shift means taking the risk and making big sacrifices – this whole new career will be very difficult I know. Now I have to give my best shot at work and I know that not even the expensive makeup brands nor those fashionable bags clothes and shoes will help me – I need an armor as I look like going to the battle field, I need to endure the birth pains of this new job, I need to be tough and I need to be more professional but most importantly I need to be my sane self all the time!

PBW: Easy Weekend with Yena

Since it was holiday last friday, our weekend starts last Thursday. I brought Yena at work for two reasons, first, there was noone to look after her since my mother had a very important matter to attend to and second, i promised to bring her to Acquatica, the newest and freshest attraction at Manila Ocean Park.

I imagined a terrible day with her at work - tantrums and tugging me to go home BUT i was wrong. She was so behaved the whole day she was with me basically because of Laplap. She was watching her CDs while i was working.

Yena and her Laplap ^_^

After Lunch, while watching her Blues Clues she fell asleep..
and slept from 1pm at 4pm! She feels at home at my office, lol

At 7pm, we watched the 30 minutes sniff preview of Acquatica and she had so much FUN!
Japan Pose at Acquatica

Because we were both so dead tired the whole thursday, we spent friday until sunday at HOME! (But got time to visit the mall to pass the time but that's another story, teehee).

LSS

I went home early yesterday, my little girl is sick. When I arrived home she requested for her Blues Clues, that dvd runs wild on my mind since last night and while typing now..

So my LSS? I need to share to you. You have no choice!

And I wasn’t able to report to work today. The daughter, who still has a fever, woke up just in time when husband and I are going out of the door. She wailed and would not want to see me go.

Today will be a marathon of Blues Clues, Dora and Barney. Oh no! And I was able to face this laptop because she’s busy with Blue! She’s calling me now I got to go! Have a nice day ahead everyone!

Very Early Bird

I woke up husband at 430am and our travel time starts at 5am. Surprisingly, there is NO TRAFFIC at south luzon expressway, south expressway and skyway today! whooot. I arrived at work at 625am today. Office hours start at 8am! Imagine?!

It was hard when your work is at the farthest end from your home. Thought balloon while typing this is work at home or my ultimate wish of being a SAHM or WAHM. :)

I have two months of unpleasant tardiness from our human resources, and i don't want another month of punctuality trouble :). If only SKYWAY Project up to alabang will be over and done as soon as possible. I can't wait 2011!

Now, the early bird is sleepy and not feeling well. PMS is letting me down. :(

Happy Birthday Ms Benggalicious!

It is a sign of respect, and i seem to be rude when i don't include a 'Madam' or 'Miss' when talking to her. After all, she is ten years ahead of me at our company so i take a high regard for her work experience and her professionalism.

Hope you now recognize the pretty woman in red, coz that is her, Ms Beng. She is the author of Entertainment Spree. I never thought she would embrace blogging as much as I do. And she is making friends more than I do now actually.. it goes to say that I am really aloof and she is really friendly even on line!

So without further ado and if you have spare time to share, please hop on her blog and greet her a happy birthday coz today should be her happiest day of the year. Am sure she will be thrilled with your sincere thoughts and touching birthday greetings.

Happy birthday Madam!

Necessities on a Trade Show

Our company, in its quest to be well known in the country, always joins trade shows. It is from where customers would learn about our product that would soon be our clients. I would envy those marketing staffs that would be busy running around for the completion of one trade show to another. It is where they put all effort to let our product sell in a market that has a very stiff competition. Sometime ago I joked around my boss and told him I would like to be transferred to Marketing department, I want the thrill of organizing things. He laughed, little did he knew that I meant it.

Since I love browsing the internet for possible sites with ideas on trade show booths I came across Camelbackdisplays.com. Camelback Displays, Inc. has been in the industry since 1999 that made them the leader in providing real options for companies needing trade show booths. The company sells every type of portable display under the sun. What left me smiling with delight is this beautiful table skirts that seem perfect for each Sales Parties we would usually held quarterly.

Plus this wonderfully designed pipe and drape would make an elegant stage for each top performers at Sales Department. It would be a nice venue to have some picture taking too. I know the employees would hurry to get inside upon seeing this modern banner stands at the entrance of the hall. Seems like a trade show booth are being held right inside our social hall.

Nice, nice idea indeed. I will be sharing these tips to our Marketing Department now. ;)

I don't deserve it..

Graduated from MySQL Training last night. Top 3.
And i really feel i don't deserve it. But am thankful for the USB flash drive as token! :)

I enjoyed the training so much. The fact that the schedule of training was from 5-8pm made me unhappy at first. Meaning for those training nights, husband and i arrived home 10pm. It has been the most tiring days of my life so far :) (ok, that is exaggerated hihih)

But for the latter part, i felt i lost the interest. Programming language was not my forte after all, so i really wander from my seat! So if there has been an actual exam i know i will fail! hahahah. So for someone who would ask me about that programming language now, i know i can share something worth a cent but not a peso, i hope you get what i mean.

Anyway, i got the top 3 for two reasons. First, i was the third to pass by email our take home exercises (thanks to my officemate who helped me do it, i really think he deserves it more than i) and; second, i completed the 30 hours of training! hahah

The Center of Distraction

My officemate Beng, who is the famous author of Entertainment Spree, forwarded this to me. This picture was taken last Christmas 2008. The group behind me are some of the Finance people in our company, i was wondering why are they looking at me!

I was kinda hesitant to post it coz Beng's camera caught me in a very compromising situation, but am glad i did! Am actually laughing at myself now! LOL

Dilemma of a Working Mom

I did not report to office today! Since yena has rashes all over her body it would be so hard for me to go to work and leave her just that without consulting her pedia. I thought she had measles already but it was another allergy called atopic dermatitis.

Last night was mind bothering, i was thinking of two things: (1) should i take a leave to bring yena to pedia or (2) just report to work?!

Another leave on this peak season of reports would look like being an irresponsible employee. I was thinking of our appraisal and its complimentary salary increase. To that is another thought balloon of; if i am still productive for the company to think that for another fever, cough or colds, or rashes i would never report to work next day. To add that a 'K' for a text reply from superiors for an emergency leave seems like 'again?!' or 'whatever'.

But to leave my daughter's situation to report to my day job seems so being a negligent mother! Leaving her everyday to work is an ultimate sacrifice already, but having no decent job in this trying times to help support for the family is like a suicide!

Now, my problem last night is still what am thinking now. i wanted to monitor yena's condition, her rashes even if the pedia says is only an allergy, i wanted to be with her! but my reports seem so endless, being on leave for days would possibly ruin my employment.

Sigh.

How can you handle tummy ache?

Just a quick post.

I am not feeling well since yesterday morning until today. I didn't get to sleep well, right side of my tummy and up to my right breast is aching non stop. I cant stand up straight, breathing was so hard and i cant walk alone. On our way to work, Hubby was literally pulling me to walk as fast as i could, in between my hard breathing.

I was told to take medicine by our company nurse now, but after 4 hours and am still not feeling well, i will be on my way to the hospital. That i am so nervous about!

I had appendectomy when i was 15 years old, and this pain i am feeling now is somewhat similar to what i felt before i was operated.

But i still hope that this is not that serious though. And if it is not too much to ask, please help me pray.

Thank you so much!

Back to Work

After 11 days of being with Yena 24/7 at home, i will be back to the office six hours from now and will be working til i drop. I miss my daughter as early as now. If only i can stay with her while i work. Or if only i can take her with me at work. That would really be fun.

Our Day Before Christmas

I was supposed to take a leave at work on the 24th since it was declared halfday by the company, but as i still have to finish very important reports- to the office i went with my daughter Yena in tow!

Look who's sitting so proud at mommy's chair huh?

Because she didn't want to nap on chairs beside mom, she dozed off at my lap after a series of her little trick shows at my officemates..

Well she was unbelievably very behaved while waiting for me to finish my work.. I cant stop myself capturing her every move, forgive me am a MOM! What do you expect, hahah.. I finished work right in time before lunch :)

At 3pm we're at the mall already for our last minute christmas shopping, whew! That was really really tiring to recall now, Next year i promise to shop starting november (Well that is another wish!) My little darling really loves to ride at those carts :)

Not so tiring?! Hahah. I know that from that last day of work every christmas time, i will be bringing her to my office, so i must get used to it! I hope i can get used to it actually, but i love every single moment with her at work. If only everyday is christmas time, and she is with me while i'm working :)

Reflection

Inspired by my good friend umma's post. Here is what my office working area looks like..

Plants
A plant inside a mini bottle with a miniature bahay kubo. this is placed at the top of my CPU

Candy Bowl/Lots of Supplies
though i must admit that i am introvert at times, with food at my table I think i am extrovert. just before my area picture taking an officemate took my peanuts away.. and my knick knacks choco on choco got lost just after taking my break.. i cant get enough of sweets at office, that is my weakness. Got no Picture for this one! :(

Motivational/Inspirational Items
i have a little sto nino at the top of my CPU, an all time reminder of my faith. also, i would only reveal it here now, i have a lavender high heels shoe beside it, also a reminder that i can be taller / higher if i set my best foot into what i love doing!

Family Photos
i have the picture of me and husband at the front of my computer, a reminder of our love?! LOL and our daughter's picture at my desktop as a wallpaper.. hope it says enough that i love my family!

Excessive Post-It Notes
do i look like i cant keep up?? i hope my cork board looks like i can keep up with my work.. :D

notice the man kneeling in front? that's the CFO, our big boss in Finance! enthusiastic as i am to have a photo with them too! :)

i have not experienced dressing for a halloween party, but i guess it will be nice coz there will be no need for makeups or special effects, i already look scary - - ask husband!! :D

Downside

i have been holding it in for so many days now. my daughter is sick and as much as i want to be with her 24/7, i have to work my ass out to help provide for our finances. after my ninety days maternity leave and on day one of going back to work, i saw myself marching into a battle field, i had to wrestle my emotions and focus on my work, fight back the tears and hold it off as longer as i can. i have to be tough. i have to be a warrior and defeat my weaker side.

i was on leave yesterday, i have to bring my daughter back to her pedia, she is still sick.. i dont know then what it is with mothers or being a mother?! but now i understand, who would want her beloved child sick? is there such thing as a substitute? if only i can carry her pain away!

i was on battlefield again today, an hour ago before going to work, i for the nth time feel the downside of being a working mom, it's hard when..

your child is sick, and doesnt want to be held by anyone except you

your child holds your face, take a grip at your clothes and doesnt like to let you go,

your daughter cries out loud when she saw you leave, and you wont even try to look back because it will mean you will cry louder!

and then you tried to look back, and saw her trying to be calm while holding her toy and then wave goodbye.

Under the Influence

Marriage is a compromise, its about doing something for the other person even when you dont want it. - The Wedding by Nicholas Sparks

Well for me: Marriage is a compromise, it is about drinking beer with your husband even when you dont like it! :p

My husband is alcoholic, nah im just kidding. As much as he is a good husband, he is an obedient one too. Here's a little story. You see, sometime last month, i allowed him to drink (alcohol) on weekends ONLY WHEN there is an occassion. BUT i noticed that every weekend, there gone one celebration to another like a birthday of someone, anniversary of another, their dog Via was expecting (can you imagine!) and when that pity dog got miscarriage. All these they celebrated with a BRANDY!

As they say, when you cannot stop them, join them. And so there i had some drink with him! Kidding. Im no saint, i admit i got drunk in the past too. But i really appreciate its bitter taste when im into a bitter situation. But when it's weekly, OMG!?!

And before you conclude, i have to reveal now that, that picture was from my ex boss despidida party at Giligans a month ago and each of us got a bottle of beer. :)
