Downside

i have been holding it in for so many days now. my daughter is sick and as much as i want to be with her 24/7, i have to work my ass out to help provide for our finances. after my ninety days maternity leave and on day one of going back to work, i saw myself marching into a battle field, i had to wrestle my emotions and focus on my work, fight back the tears and hold it off as longer as i can. i have to be tough. i have to be a warrior and defeat my weaker side.

i was on leave yesterday, i have to bring my daughter back to her pedia, she is still sick.. i dont know then what it is with mothers or being a mother?! but now i understand, who would want her beloved child sick? is there such thing as a substitute? if only i can carry her pain away!

i was on battlefield again today, an hour ago before going to work, i for the nth time feel the downside of being a working mom, it's hard when..

your child is sick, and doesnt want to be held by anyone except you

your child holds your face, take a grip at your clothes and doesnt like to let you go,

your daughter cries out loud when she saw you leave, and you wont even try to look back because it will mean you will cry louder!

and then you tried to look back, and saw her trying to be calm while holding her toy and then wave goodbye.

looks like we made it

They said, 'i bet, they'll never make it!' yes sing it to the tune of shania twain's you're still the one. But we did it! Yes sir, we did it! We're still together and going strong! :) sing it still?! :) LOL

It has been a year of married life we pass with flying colors and falling stars.. :)

1 year of being together with petty fights and making ups, check
more than 365 times of kisses and hugs and cuddles and laugher, check
less than 365 times of tears and aches and problems and pain, check
2 complete opposite individual, 1 marriage, 1 bond, 1 promise of a lifetime, check
1 baby, check

Funny what i have been writing. I am just so happy that we finished a mile of our journey together! Now let me shout it out- -

Happy Anniversary to my Husband!
I love you more each day!

Right to Refuse

Just thought I'd share this with you. I got this from an email, two lawyers might have been discussing about law and women's rights. It was about an incident - a young girl was raped by a man posing as a plain clothes officer; he asked her to come to the police station when she and her male friend didn't have a driver's license to show. He sent the boy off to get his license and asked the girl to accompany him to the police station. But instead, the officer took her to an isolated area where the horrendous crime was committed.

In fact, the law clearly states that between 6 pm and 6am, a woman has the right to REFUSE to go to the Police Station, even if an arrest warrant has been issued against her. It is a procedural issue that a woman can be arrested between 6pm and 6 am , ONLY if she is arrested by a woman officer and taken to an ALL WOMEN police station. And if she is arrested by a male officer, it has to be proven that a woman officer was on duty at the time of arrest.

It is good for us to know our rights. To what extent it comes of use remains to be seen in any situation. But as they say, knowledge is power. But note that it is only applicable here in the Philippines, any country's law regarding this is so alien to me. :)

I did not know this and am sure lot of us will not know this- please be informed....

Take care ladies!

Happy Sentiments

Family means putting your arms around each other and being there.

Dont get me wrong, my mother love me most until now, my child too, i can feel it to my bones :). And regardless of all the hurt, i love her most to eternity! This i swear to God! But the scars and the promises of a family that i have since that fateful day i was born was lost the second i got married without them.

I’d like to think i have been a good daughter. Being a first born, i was poured in with lots of love and attention.. From then until now, i know i am deeply loved.

I remember my mother told me that when I decided to get married someday, she would not meddle in all decisions I would make. Whom I choose is my sole choice. My heart is my affair I have to deal on my own.

That was what she told me.

And why are we smiling like there will be no tomorrow on this photo??

Its because, i know deep down my heart that my mother loves my husband too!! It started the day Yena arrived, the moment when i have my own family too, when i was born a mother. I can see it in her eyes! She loves my husband! Yahoo!! It has been my prayer ever since, that for how much my mother loves me, she will too to my husband. Looks like it has been an answered prayer! Eveyone's at peace! Happy?! :)

Are you smarter than a 5th grader?

This is a 5th grade math problem. This is not a trick question. This is a real math problem so don't say that a bus has no legs.

There are 7 girls in a bus
Each girl has 7 backpacks
In each backpack, there are 7 big cats
For every big cat there are 7 little cats

Question: How many legs are there in the bus?

I chance upon Bob Ong's book review on hubby's cousin Jean on her blog some months ago. I knew from then i would like to read it non stop if i have them. Yesterday hubby asked me what book am i referring to, and upon seeing Bob Ong's i was on deep thought on what to choose among the six books. And the surprise among surprises came?!

Hubby told me to buy all of them! A gift for our first wedding anniversary he told me. Now i have to stop reading twilight for the meantime i have to finish Bob Ong's.

Always worried

Last year was a tough year for me, my family and yobib's family.

June 2007, my father who was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes underwent a surgical operation on his right leg. Almost a month of stay at the hospital and with relatives not supportive enough, it was a chaos i can now smile recalling. My family passed this test with flying colors, with my father recuperating now and my mother acting as his full time nurse.

October 2007, i was alone on my wedding day and disowned by my mother a couple of hours later.

November 2007, two days apart my mother and papa, yobib's father suffered stroke. My mother with milder attack than papa. It was another fight that made each family closer. Though papa suffered another stroke january this year, both of them are getting into recovery. They are both feeling better and stronger now.

All this happened while i was pregnant with Yena!

I once told my officemate who is pregnant now not to worry a thing, sometimes when we feel so down and lost we thought we are the most wretched creature on earth. But there are situations worser than ours. I am a great worrier i tell you, but my husband consistently taught me not to, worrying will not help.

Yesterday, my grandmother from maternal side who is almost 90 years old was dignosed that her heart is getting larger. She is too thin that getting blood pressure is a failure. She always has a fever.

After his quarterly checkup, my father was about to undergo five laboratory tests. He is getting a hard time to pee, when he feels urinating nothing is coming out or if there is a spot of blood would come out. The doctor said it might be signs of prostate cancer.

I worry and i think a lot. I am lost in deep thoughts. Though i know worrying leads to nothing i just cant stop it, i am always worried. Now, If its not too much to ask, please help me pray. Let this be another test of faith me and my family can pass through.

Thank you so much.

Anger Management

Funny story for everyone on a not so funny monday for me. :)

A man and woman had been married for more than 60 years. They had shared everything. They had talked about everything. They had kept no secrets from each other except that the little old woman had a shoe box in the top of her closet that she had cautioned her husband never to open or ask her about.

For all of these years, he had never thought about the box, but one day the little old woman got very sick and the doctor said she would not recover.

In trying to sort out their affairs, the little old man took down the shoe box and took it to his wife's bedside.

She agreed that it was time that he should know what was in the box. When he opened it, he found two crocheted dolls and a stack of money totaling $95,000.

He asked her about the contents. 'When we were to be married,' she said, ' my grandmother told me the secret of a happy marriage was to never argue. She told me that if I ever got angry with you, I should just keep quiet and crochet a doll.'

The little old man was so moved; he had to fight back tears. Only two precious dolls were in the box. She had only been angry with him two times in all those years of living and loving. He almost burst with happiness.

'Honey,' he said, 'that explains the doll, but what about all of this money? Where did it come from?'

'Oh,' she said, 'that's the money I made from selling the dolls.'

A Prayer

Dear Lord, I pray for Wisdom to understand my man;
Love to forgive him; And Patience for his moods;
Because Lord, if I pray for Strength,
I'll beat him to death, because I don't know how to crochet

Problem with Entrecard. HELP!

I have been using entrecard for a month now, and it has been useful in driving my blog traffic hence my advertisements and hopefully my funds. But I was awed this morning when I receive this email from entrecard.

Your account 'Quietly Passionate' on entrecard.com has been deleted. The administrator gave the following reason:

rule 1,
http://entrecard.com/docs/doku.php?id=blog_quality_standards

Please contact deleted@entrecard.com if you have any questions regarding this action.

I contacted them right away, concerned about my mushroom blog which has been linked to it. I have been dropping cards lately, where will my ec cards go? (am still concerned with the cards, I cannot believe myself!)

Expecting it will take time, I was amazed they replied back after a minute or so..

Please provide us with the URL of the blog that is still active with Entrecard, and we will be happy to retrieve your sign in info. You may also change the header picture on Quietly Passionate if you wish, and we can reinstate it as well. Sorry, but there had been complaints about the nudity, no matter how tasteful it may have been.

And oh my! What am I suppose to do?

I have been losing my composure, I am contemplating on changing my header, but how? I chose it a long time ago from
ate sienna’s template designs and there is no other way I can alter it for 1) I do not know how, 2) out of respect to ate sienna’s effort in putting up this sensual design and 3) I love this template to death!

Am a sad face because I need to drive traffic to my blog for my advertisements and entrecard has been very useful to me on that aspect.

Am a confused face because, I don’t know now what to do. Should I change my template so they can reinstate my entrecard account?

I really need HELP. Can somebody out there help me.. Please?

Water or Coke?

WATER
1. 75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated. (Likely applies to half the world population)

2. In 37% of Americans, the thirst mechanism is so weak that it is mistaken for hunger.

3. Even MILD dehydration will slow down one's metabolism as 3%.

4. One glass of water will shut down midnight hunger pangs for almost 100% of the dieters studied in a University of Washington study.

5. Lack of water, the #1 trigger of daytime fatigue.

6. Preliminary research indicates that 8-10 glasses of water a day could significantly ease back and joint pain for up to 80% of sufferers.

7. A mere 2% drop in body water can trigger fuzzy short-term memory, trouble with basic math, and difficulty focusing on the computer screen or on a ! printed page.

8. Drinking 5 glasses of water daily decreases the risk of colon cancer by 45%, plus it can slash the risk of breast cancer by 79%., and one is 50% less likely to develop bladder cancer. Are you drinking the amount of water you should drink every day?

COKE
1. In many states the highway patrol carries two gallons of Coke in the trunk to remove blood from the highway after a car accident.

2. You can put a T-bone steak in a bowl of Coke and it will be gone in two days.

3. To clean a toilet: Pour a can of Coca-Cola into the toilet bowl and let the "real thing" sit for one hour, then flush clean. The citric acid in Coke removes stains from vitreous China .

4. To remove rust spots from chrome car bumpers: Rub the bumper with a rumpled-up piece of Reynolds Wrap aluminum foil dipped in Coca-Cola.

5. To clean corrosion from car battery terminals: Pour a can of Coca-Cola over the terminals to bubble away the corrosion.

6. To loosen a rusted bolt: Apply a cloth soaked in Coca-Cola to the rusted bolt for several minutes.

7. To bake a moist ham: Empty a can of Coca-Cola into the baking pan, wrap the ham in aluminum foil, and bake. Thirty minutes before ham is finished, remove the foil, allowing the drippings to mix with the Coke for a sumptuous brown gravy.

8. To remove grease from clothes: Empty a can of Coke into the load of greasy clothes, add detergent, and run through a regular cycle. The Coca-Cola will help loosen grease stains. It will also clean road haze from your windshield.

FOR YOUR INFORMATION:

1. the active ingredient in Coke is phosphoric acid. It will dissolve a nail in about four days. Phosphoric acid also leaches calcium from bones and is a major contributor to the rising increase of osteoporosis.

2. To carry Coca-Cola syrup! (the concentrate) the commercial trucks must use a hazardous Material place cards reserved for highly corrosive materials.

3. The distributors of Coke have been using it to clean engines of the trucks for about 20 years!

Now the question is, would you like a glass of water?

or Coke?

Mommy or Daddy?

I know that she loves mommy too, but she prefers to be with daddy all the time now. Last night, while my MIL was holding her, hubby and i tried to test her on where will she choose to go, with mommy or with daddy..

As it did not shock me, it hurt me a bit i have to admit. And i therefore conclude. He has been her choice all this time. Poor mommy. She is definitely a daddy's girl!
