PBW: Yellow Sunday

I noticed that weekends for the family this whole summer is so hectic. If it's not outing, it's the parties that keep our little family so occupied. Like yesterday, we had to attend a baptism in the morning, birthday party in the afternoon and another birthday party in the evening.

Will share pictures soon when i find time, for now here's our picture after the mass and before the baptism ceremony in our church.

Yellow family this time!

How Business Cards Began in Britain

Business cards have a strange origin, so far as the British Isles are concerned. Unlike in other places, people began to use business cards in Britain because the officials in London forgot to mark the city's maze-like streets with adequate numbers, making it difficult for people to find places they wanted to go.

This caused considerable problems for local businesses. How would a business advertise itself if it could not properly tell a prospective customer where it was located? If a merchant opened a store on some long street in London in the 17th century, he would find it hard to direct customers to his store. There was no handy numbering system for him to use with his prospective customers. In our world, we often take for granted the presence of street numbers and don't recognize the great efficiency of this system. That might change if you go to a country where there isn't a street numbering system. The merchants of 17th century London devised an efficient method to resolve this problem.

They created small, palm-sized cards that they called trading cards. These were printed and kept in little boxes that a merchant could carry. He could hand over one of these cards to a potential customer. The trading cards contained detailed descriptions, even hand drawings of rough maps that showed where the merchant's store was located. The location was often referenced against a well-known landmark like Westminster Abbey. These cards and the directions made it easy for customers to find a store.

The cards were originally made out of woodcut; the letterpress was also used. Then in the next century, fine copperplate engraving replaced these older printing methods. The cards were still in monotone, which too changed in the 19th century with the introduction of lithography.

Modern business cards were just a step away.

It’s Back!

My lappy Nancy and my internet connection at home is back to running full blast again! Like a miracle, after ten minutes of ringing, a customer representative of smartbro answered my call. I thought I would still need some air intakes before I would be able to have someone solve the peculiar case of the less than sign in my browser. But I was wrong. Seems like the guy I talked to, know what to do the moment I told him what I was experiencing with my browser for weeks. It was after less than five minutes of disabling the anti -virus and the internet connection and then enabling them again and voila – it’s finally back!

Now I don’t know where to start on my blogging duties. I have lots of pending posts to do, contests to join and friends to visit. I need to blog hop on the girls entries on Girls Talk this week, I need to update my blog listings and continue with my Project 365. Everything is urgent and everything needs my attention it seems. Lol

But the challenge is that - I need to do all those blogging duties before the husband arrives tonight. He wanted an undivided attention and blogging should be the last on my priorities when he and yena is around. So wish me luck!

Happy Friday and have a Blessed Weekend everyone!

Niko says:

Am still having problem with my laptop nancy and my internet connection at home. And I call it ‘A peculiar case of the less than sign’. The reason why I don’t have updates on my blogs (I have some updates on the other blogs today though) don’t ask me how but if there’s a will there’s a way, right?

My girls talk for this Thursday is lovingly prepared by my Marce K, isn’t she the sweetest? The linky is up for the whole week so if you wish to join please head up to my Girls Rule blog. The topic by the way is about our friends from work.

I was able to attend the dedication of Madz’ pretty daughter, Sophia Marie yesterday with my daughter Yena, who has a swollen face but was very well behaved. Will post the pictures, need to grab it on Madz facebook later.

My apology to Glenda, Fedhz and Pehpot for not being able to attend our meet up yesterday. Sad. Please let's set it next week!!! Wink

I am sad without my usual blogging routines nightly but started to realize some things. Well, I CAN live without internet connection just as long as I have proxy at work. My GOD is bigger than smart. ALWAYS.

Now I can’t wait tomorrow night!

What about you? What’s your “say” today???!

How can I live?!

It has been days without my internet connection at home. It was terrible. I felt lost already. I know it looks so petty but please allow me to let this all out.

Last night was hopeless. I called smartbro for 2 hours. I was able to talk to 2 customer service representatives for 2 minutes each. And the rest of the time my phone on speaker mode was just ringing, there was no answer. I was cranky already and then I realized on what internet connection is turning me into – a monster. I was crying while trying to check the connection. i was irritated to every noise my daughter made and i was not definitely myself.

Should I be a bitch because I don’t have a connection and ignore my daughter who was happily playing with her cousin? At that very minute I was still thinking of playing at toponlinecasinosforrealmoney.com. Still weighing things on whether to play money slots or play money roulette. I was so ashamed of myself. I am a bad mom.

So I turned off my laptop, forget about that damn connection and played with her. Just like those nights when I still don’t have my connection at home, we watched TV, I cooked and we ate together, we read her books, we played nonstop with her toys and made fun of each other. We slept at 12am tired and happy. I was back to my old self and I felt better. When smartbro pulls me down my daughter will always lift me up!

PBW: Mother's Day at Lasalette

I have been bugging husband to bring me back to Lasalette, the historical place where he promised me lots of kids on our mushroom days, hihi. We always had a very busy sunday it was hard to schedule a quick visit to that little paradise in Silang. But since the choir has no scheduled service at our church plus it's mother's day, off to Lasalette we went to stroll the place after the afternoon mass.

Me and my sister Aya on smiling galore. Happy Mother's Day talaga hihihi ^_^
Our kids plus nephew and niece from our cousins.
It was the kids first time to Lasalette and they enjoyed it.
L-R (Yobib, Me, Eya, Gy, Yena, Yael, Joshua, my sister Aya and my BIL Ely) One big happy family, lol

It was a fun-filled day! I wish its always Mother's Day lol. How about you? How was your weekend?

Home Alone

Basically, because husband is not here tonight. The house seems so spacious with just me and yena but I would always choose a crowded room just as long as I am with husband and yena. Weh. Hahahah. Allow me to be a little ‘emo’ please.. hihihi

Home is where the Heart is

After all the hard work in a day it is always home that we find solace and comfort. It is our haven from all the hassles of the world. Home is definitely where our heart belongs.

House is a structure intended for living. Home is a place where one can find comfort, love and happiness. Niko's home is definitely a place where you can be comfy, slouch on your chair and read her articles about Posh furniture for your home. Discover how she want her future house will look. See what kind kind of bed she think Yena will sleep soundly. And you can even find cool tv racks design for your LCD. If you have known Niko for her famous and sometimes naughty Girls Talk, prepare to know her domesticated side on Niko's Home.

You will be surprised to know that this office girl is also a homebody. She talk about her dream bedroom, which is actually the room she stayed in a resort in Batangas. Yo can also read about her newest portable DVD (which she bought from her prize in the biggest contest in blogniverse) and she even talks about food. Every Friday, the site publish food photos that can really make each readers drool. Make Niko's Home your everyday stop and be comfy, sit back, relax and enjoy her home.

PBW: Babies Day Out

I forgot to bring my camera last saturday when husband and i watched Iron Man 2. Sigh. So when my sister and i brought the kids yesterday at the mall, i made sure the camera was with me as soon as i leave the house.
It wasn't our first time at the mall definitely but it should be our first time to see the FIRST TIME cast if only we arrived 30minutes earlier. ^_^ I am not a fan but my sister is, so it's a big disappointment for her that we were late. hahah.
The kids favorite is the motor-riding at the upper floor. But it was not there anymore so we spent the time at Quantum. Yena was crying when we leave the place, she wanted to ride everything that she sees. Oh my. But before playing she asked me to eat at her first love first, Jollibee.
It was tiring to bring the kids at mall especially when they all want to be the driver. There's someone crying after another, hahah. But i love it. Someday they will grow up and will miss this part. ihihi.
